Autumn's Race in NYC (poem written 10/18/2008 - photos from Prospect Park, Brooklyn)

Autumn's Race in NYC

Turn right then left; faster and faster.
Down 3rd then 4th; quicker, faster.
Hair flowing, eyes open, noise but no sound.
Mind focused and distracted as the leaves hit the ground.
The wind picks up and so does her pace,
Just a normal day with panic on her face.
A girl amongst a crowd of chaos she is,
Just another in the city, just another among the nothingness...
No one stops, no one lingers, no one smiles, no one looks to notice the hand, the fingers....
She grips tighter and tighter, and yet faster she goes -
To where and to what no one really knows.

She's swept up in the race that everyone seems to run.
The race to nothing, the race that's never won.
Yet on this day she'll realize what many never will...
That it's a beautiful Autumn day - trees restless, squirrels still.
And as a leaf falls right into her pretty little hand,
She'll stop for awhile, on that street corner she'll stand.
The noise will continue and the race might not even slow,
But she'll notice the direction in which the wind does blow!
So on that day in Autumn, on Grove Street she'll stand,
If only to realize that life is amazingly grand -
That while we all must run in a race from time to time,
It's really about the pauses in between that make life so perfectly divine!

...I guess you could say that my adventure in Prospect Park is just one among the many pauses I've taken living here in NYC!...

HOGAR DULCE HOGAR - New York!

The year was 2008 when Christine moved into her beautiful apartment in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn.  She was a ripe 22 years old with lots of hopes and dreams just waiting to come true.  The apartment itself was quaint, but she loved it 'oh so dearly' with its bright windows, light colors, and spacious feel.  The neighbors seemed friendly, the area was safe, and the train was close by!  Yes, the year was 2008 and the exact date to be May 22nd when she started her new life in "La GRAN manzana" they call New York City...

!!!!!!!!!!!_Mi PISO_!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's walk through the front door and up the stairs...down the hallway and through my door...
When you walk in to my apartment, you see the corner couch in front of you (purple), the kitchen table to the left of you, the hallway straight/left and the kitchen off to the left side...
This is what I like to call the "reading nook"
This is the kitchen table!  Imagine it with all the purple dishware to match the corner couch!

...And this is my very spacious kitchen with the big window...
